Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam chief Minister is distributing free laptops along with cash rewards for the students, who are meritorious students. The name of the scheme is Anundoram Borooah Award 2017, in which high scored student will get a Laptop or equal amount. The State government of Assam releases Atal Amrit to render the health insurance for the poor people in the country.
He will give the coverage for the different critical disease by Assam Borooah Laptop Scheme 2017. By this scheme, the state government will also bestow the medical facilities and insurance to many poor people. NHPC limited begin a scheme called NHPC Fellowship, mainly for the students, and also it begins, who got post graduation or pursuing master degree.

This scheme is mainly used to help the student those who want move further in their studies. Laptop scheme also encouraging many students to get high marks in the board exam. Without laptop or computer the whole world will not move.
As per Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, Assam has also decided to get down in this scheme. The winner names, who need to get Laptop under the Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme will be announced on arbas.assam.gov.in.
In order to register for the Anundoram Borooah Award 2017, students have to fill the form. They have to mention their name, father’s name, class, marks they obtained in the exams and age. The marks are highly essential to avail the laptop because it purely depends on the mark basis.
History of Anundoram Borooah Award
This scheme had been first introduced by Tarun Gogoi, Assam Chief Minister at the time of state budget session in the year 2005. The main aim of the scheme is to improve competition among the student and to assist them to enhance their knowledge. The Assam Electronics Development firm was taken full charge instead of Planning and Development Dept, Government of Assam.
The first programmed of this award had been started on 14th September and the central award ceremony was taking place in the historic judges field, Guwahati. The District level distribution of award events had been held in Assam districts. Totally 12756 students got rewarded, in which 12,649 students had received PC and other got cash cheque.
The Tarun Gogoi is continuing to provide Anundoram Borooah Award from 2005. Earlier computers were distributed that are now replaced by Linux powered laptops.
2013 Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme:
The central ceremony for the rank holders was taken place at Veterinary College, Guwahati on 2013, Nov. After that, the computers were distributed for the eligible students via respective district officials. Invitation cards for High Madrassa, Senior Madrassa, and Sanskrit Praveshika examination are sent via respective school.
2013 system configuration free laptop consist of 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 2.4 GHZ processor, Bluetooth, Webcam, 14” LED display, card reader, etc. It contains the Ubuntu Linux operating system and also Super X (Dual boot).
The education department main target is to bring competition and to motivate them towards IT field. In which, both awards are available that means some students will get Laptop and some other will avail cash.
Registration process for Anundoram Borooah Award:
All Meritorious students can do registration in online and the procedures are as follows:

- Then need to go for online Data Sheet.
- By clicking on that link, they can fill the registration form.
- Enter the Roll number and marks got in the exams.
- Now they can submit the registration form.
The Assam government decides to initiate this Free Laptop Scheme 2017. Because of this scheme students can be connected with IT and it will assist them in their growth. The Government of Assam has taken some initiative in order to promote IT education with this scheme.
