So the notification has arrived for the year 2016 and countdown for PSTET has begun. Punjab TET 2016 is scheduled for 21st August 2016. While appearing for any examination, having a solid preparation, the knowledge of exact pattern is essential for the examinee. So that we have provided the latest PSTET Exam Pattern with the detailed syllabus.
Exam Structure: Only Multiple Choice Questions are asked in the paper. OMR sheets are provided to the candidates to lock their answers. There is no negative evaluation in any of the teacher eligibility tests. Every question weights one mark.
There are two papers in PSTET and any other TET examination:
- Paper I: For those who wants to be the primary teacher i.e classes I to V.
- Paper II: It’s for the candidates who intend to be the teacher of the upper primary level i.e classes VI to VIII.
Note: A candidate who is interested in becoming eligible for Primary level and Upper Primary level teacher jobs, can enroll to appear in both of the papers.
The Duration of TET Examination
The time allowed for each paper is 1:30 Hours (90 Minutes), as approved by NCTE.

Paper I (for classes I to V)
Total Questions: 150
All of the subjects in Paper-1 are compulsory
(i) Child Development and Pedagogy 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(ii) Language I 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iii) Language II 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iv) Mathematics 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(v) Environmental Studies 30 MCQs 30 Marks

Paper II (for classes VI to VIII)
Total MCQs: 150
(i) Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory) 30MCQs 30Marks

(iv) (a) For Mathematics and Science teacher:

PSTET Cut-off (Qualifying Marks): A candidate need to score 60% marks to be eligible to obtain the TET pass certificate. SC/ST, OBC, differently abled candidates has an exemption of 5% marks in the cut-off so they need to score 55% marks.

Validity of PSTET Certificate: Once you cleared the exam, you will get the qualification certificate. This certificate is valid for 7 years. However, you may appear in Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test as many times as you want, to increase your score. OMR Sheets for this exam are checked by computer machines only. The answer sheets are preserved for a period of 6 months only.
